Volume 5, Number 4
Hello Friends!
Can you believe that the first two months of 2009 are almost over?
| We had a great time at Kansas Equifest, and it was great to see everyone. During Equifest, Better Horses Radio launched their new Twister trailer converted into our road show. The interviews along with the great entertainment by Rusty Rierson and Geff Dawson really made it a lot of fun. We hope to see you in a couple of weeks when we head to Missouri’s HorseFest in Springfield. |

Our 2009 HOW (Horse Owner Workshops) are kicking into high gear in the next few
weeks, and I hope that you will be able to attend. Look for some great new
products coming in the Spring from Purina Mills. Make sure you plan to attend
our event on March 22nd at Winding River Equine facility near
Dearborn, MO. Kerry Kuhn and Cindy Branham will be heading up the clinicians at
this HOW event, and we are looking forward to spending the day at this great
facility. Kerry is planning on holding a riding clinic on the Saturday
before, March 21st, at Saddle and Sirloin located south of Kansas
City. Information is in the Calendar section of this newsletter or contact me at
785/418-6047.
Don’t forget to join us and the clinicians, Curt and Tammy Pate, on March 27th, 28th, & 29th, at the brand new Lone Wolf Arena located south of Kansas City. We plan to hold a HOW event on Friday night with the Pates and then hold a two day clinic on Saturday and Sunday. Also Lone Wolf Arena will be celebrating Saturday evening with an Open House complete with food and entertainment.
We are getting sign ups for our 2nd Annual Dream Ride In The Flint Hills held at the Flying W Ranch near Cottonwood Falls on May 1st , 2nd , & 3rd . We will be riding in new pastures this year and we plan to have another great time. Singer, Rusty Rierson, and his band will be entertaining us on Saturday night.
There is not a better time to put your horses on a Purina Program than now. Contact either myself or your local Purina representative and ask about the Challenge Program. We can prove that when you look at top performance and cost per head per day, Purina Feeds are second to none. Call me at 785/418-6047.
We still have some Priefert Premier 12 foot panels for sale that were used once at the American Royal’s NCHA Cutting last year. These are the top of the line gray panels that Priefert offers. Either e-mail me at ernie@betterhorsesradio.com or call me at 785/418-6047.
Don’t forget to check out our websites at www.betterhorsesnetwork.com or www.betterhorsesradio.com to see what is going on. Let me know if I can be of a help anyway and I hope to see you soon.
Happy Trails!
Ernie

Person in Kansas Has a Good
Home and Looking for A Horse
Many times there are people who would give their horse away to a good
home if they knew of someone who wanted a horse. A friend, Ritchie
Farrell, works with someone who used to ride a long time ago and is looking for
a general riding horse for a beginning to intermediate rider. If you have
a horse you would like to give to a good home, please contact Ernie Rodina (785)
418-6047 or e-mail
ernest_rodina@purinamills.com, and I will get you in touch with him.
(This person lives in North Central Kansas, around Belleville, KS.)

Horse Management Tip
Ride With Greatness
By Ernie Rodina
A great horse tip from my friend, Al Dunning. Taken
from his new book, the Ultimate Level of Horsemanship-Training Through
Inspiration;
“If you want to be great, ride with greatness”.
If I want to be as good as the cowboys I look up to, should I ride with the guy
down the street who doesn’t know much? No. I should sacrifice
whatever I can and ride with the people I look up to. If I want to be as
good as they are, I’d better find out what they do.
Horsey Treat Recipe

Horse Granola |
Here's an easy to make "granola" treat for your special horse . . .
2 cups oats
1 cup molasses
1/2 finely chopped apple
1/4 cup water
1 chopped carrot (optional)
First, mix everything together -- it should be sticky. Bake in oven at 425o
for about 10 minutes.
When time is up, leave the grain in the oven until the oven is cool. A
great granola treat for your
best buddy!
