Volume 4, Number 22
Hello, Friends!
I am typing this letter to you on Sunday afternoon on our bus ride home from the World Finals Ranch Rodeo in Amarillo, Texas. Wow! What a great time! There were 39 of us that boarded the bus from Chase County Kansas and made the trip to Amarillo, Texas to experience the World Finals and also to cheer on the teams from Kansas. It was great to cheer on the guys from the Buck Creek and Lonesome Pine Ranch Rodeo Team. For much of the weekend they seemed to have been faced with some tough luck that kept them out of the money. Being a part of a sponsor for them, I am real proud to be on their team. Watch out -- they will be back next year.
Congratulations goes out to the Arndt/Bailey Ranch Team from Kansas for capturing 3rd place in the World. Along with that, team member Wes Bailey was crowned Reserve World Champion Top Hand. When it came down to calculating the team points there were only 2 points separating the first and third place. First place in the team honors went to the Rainbow Ranch from Deming, New Mexico. They had a total of 77.5 points. Second place in the team competition went to the Spade Ranch from Lubbock, Texas with 76 points and the Arndt/Bailey Ranch ended up with 75.5 points. It was a real horse race!
Also, my congratulations goes out to the Beachner Ranch Rodeo team for a fine performance at the finals.
The fun did not stop with the Ranch Rodeo Performances. On Saturday afternoon at our hotel, we held a reception for the Buck Creek/Lonesome Pine Ranch Rodeo team. We hosted over 100 Kansas Fans, complete with a brisket dinner and entertainment. World Class Cowboy Poet, Geff Dawson, entertained the crowd with his “cowboy poetry” and singing. Another real treat for the crowd was an appearance and a thirty-minute concert by Western Music great, RW Hampton. We were with many of our Kansas friends from Chase County, and we met many new friends. You won’t want to miss next year’s trip to Amarillo to the Finals. This is definitely a great experience, not only with the Ranch Rodeo, but the great Trade Show.
Now on the ride home from this great trip, I am trying to get this electronic newsletter together to go out along with putting the final touches on my Winter Edition of the Better Horses Network publication. You will be able to pick up the Winter Edition of Better Horses at your nearest participating Purina Dealer. You can always subscribe online at www.betterhorsesnetwork.com.
If any of you are interested in purchasing some 12 foot Premier Priefert Panels, they have some to sell at the American Royal. We used over 100 brand new Priefert Panels for last week’s Cutting Horse Show at the Royal. These are the gray panels that can’t be bent. You can purchase these panels for $125 each. They normally retail for over $150. Give me a call at 785/418-6047 or e-mail me at ernest_rodina@purina-mills.com if you are interested.
Welcome Feldmans Farm & Home as our newest Purina Dealers in the Kansas City area. They have locations in Missouri in Odessa, Blue Springs, and Liberty. They also have a location in Bonner Springs, Kansas. They will have Purina in their stores by Thanksgiving weekend.
Make sure you check out our websites at www.purinamills.com along with www.omoleneuniversity.com, and www.betterhorsesnetwork.com . I hope to see you at an event coming up soon in your area.

Horse Management Tip
Preparing for Winter
In these times when we are starting to experience more drastic
drops in temperatures, make sure you increase the amount of hay to help your
horse generate more heat.
Also make sure your horse or horses have plenty of access to clean water and
exercise.

Thoughts To Ponder
By Charley Green
Looking Back
I've heard a lot of folks say they wish they were 40 again
knowing then what they know now. I pondered on that for a while and came
to the conclusion if those folks aren't doing now with what they know, then they
sure as heck wouldn't do anything different even if they were younger.
It's always easier to do the talking about what might have been
than Cowboying Up and do the walking to what's possible now. If you don't
think you are currently riding the high road of life; then take a real hard
look; make the change to get off the low road or living in the past; get up on
the high road and begin living today. Because when it comes time to saddle
up and ride into the sunset, we want to do so with the knowledge we've done some
great things!
