Volume 5, Number 5

Hello Friends!

I hope you all had a good weekend and were able to spend some time on horseback. We have a lot of events coming up in the next few weeks and hope that you will be able to make some of them.

On Tuesday evening, March 10th, if any of you are around Heritage Tractor in Topeka, I hope you can join us for a hamburger and HOW (Horse Owner Workshop). We will start serving burgers about 6:00.

On Wednesday evening we will have the Better Horses Radio Trailer at a Pre-HorseFest at Gordons Feed & Pet in Rogersville, MO.  They have a HOW event scheduled along with burgers. We will be running our Road Show from their parking lot along with a live remote from Bass Country Radio. This event will begin around 6:00 pm.

A couple of great participation HOW events that are coming up are Saturday, March 21st, a riding clinic with Kerry Kuhn . This event will be held at the Saddle & Sirloin Club located south of Kansas City. We still have a few spots left to ride and for information call Linda Grimmett at 816/914-0490. Another clinic you sure will not want to miss is the Effective Stockmanship & Horsemanship clinic with Curt and Tammy Pate. This is March 27 and 28 at the NEW Lone Wolf Arena located south of Kansas City. Either e-mail me at ernie@betterhorsesradio.com or give me a call at 785/418-6047.

WE HAVE MOVED OUR BRENT WRIGHT/DELL HENDRICKS REINING CLINIC!
We have moved our Reining Clinic to the Kansas ExpoCentre in Topeka, KS.  The dates are the same being May 30th and 31st. On Friday, May 29th, we will have a Special HOW Event involving a Jackpot Reining Class that will be judged by Brent and Dell. After each run, Brent and Dell will spend a couple of minutes critiquing the run. We plan to add $250 to the class and will limit this class to 20 riders. Clinic participants will have first option to compete in this special class. After the clinic on Saturday night, you won’t want to miss the Steak Fry along with some great entertainment. We still have a few spots left for the two-day clinic. For more information either e-mail me at ernie@betterhorsesradio.com or call me at 785/418-6047.

When looking at feeding your horse or horses, there is not a more efficient way then with Purina Mills. When you look at the total picture involving Research, Safety, Performance, and Cost/head/day, Purina Products are second to none. There is not a better time to try Purina Premium Horse Feeds right now with our Challenge Program. For more information about our Challenge Program you can e-mail me or call me.

If you are around Springfield, Missouri this weekend, make sure you make it over to HorseFest at the fairgrounds and look us up. We will be there with our Better Horses Road Show along with Equine Education and some great entertainment. Also, don’t forget to check out our websites at www.betterhorsesnetwork.com and www.betterhorsesradio.com.

Let me know if I can be of a help in any way and thanks for all you do.

Happy Trails!

Ernie

Horse Management Tip

Tip From Al Dunning
By Ernie Rodina

Here is another great tip taken from Al Dunning’s new book, AL DUNNING, The Ultimate Level Of Horsemanship-Training Through Inspiration.

“Only a very small part of our career is spent on the mountaintop. Most of it is spent climbing up or sliding back down. Therefore it bears repeating, you should always be a gracious winner and always be open to constructive criticism.”

This book is available by going to www.adtack.com and ordering online.

Horsey Treat Recipe

    Apple Muffins

He'll come running for this treat . . .

1 cup flour
1 cup wheat germ
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 tsp salt
3 tsp. baking powder
1 egg
2/3 cup milk
1/4 cup corn oil
1 cup apples, chopped

Preheat oven to 400o.  Grease muffin tins and set aside.  In large bowl, mix dry ingredients together and set aside.  In separate bowl, mix remaining ingredients thoroughly including the apples.  Pour liquid ingredients into the dry ingredients.  Mix until everything is moistened.

Scoop into muffin tins and bake 15 to 20 minutes.  Cool and then serve this special treat for that good horse of  yours!

        Thoughts To Ponder

                                 Losing Business

If you think someone's taking away your business, you'd better take another
look and see what you are doing that's really giving it away.

It probably means what you're doing isn't working, so don't go blaming someone
else or making excuses -- just get busy and make it right!
